Finally, it feels like summer has come to Melbourne this weekend and a delicious day trip to the Yarra Valley was on the top of our to-do list. Not only was the food delish, but the rolling green vineyards and blue sunny skies were something else. Here’s a short list of what we got up to:
Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander
First stop for a morning coffee and a sweet baked treat. An incredibly hard choice but we finally chose the chocolate and cherry frangipane tart.
336 Maroondah Highway, Healesville
Tarra Warra Museum of Art
We thoroughly enjoyed the Australian works of Russell Drysdale and the large-scale yellow neon of the Future Memorials installation. The beautiful curves of the museum provide a peaceful escape and an opportunity to experience Australian modern art, architecture and the stunning Yarra Valley landscape.
311 Healesville-Yarra Glen Road, Healesville
Roadside fruit stop
Curious and still strangely hungry, we followed the signs on the side of the road picked up some locally grown blackberries.
Last stop on the way home was the tiny picturesque town of Warburton. We discovered a peaceful spot to sit and dangle our legs in the chilly Yarra River.
