Recently we had a lovely short weekend away in Bright, Victoria. We stayed at the beautiful Spring Spur Airbnb, toured the towns of Bright, Beechworth and Myrtleford, made our winding way to the top of Mount Buffalo, and hunted down (and photographed) every last vibrant speck of Autumn.
We took a short drive to Bacchus Marsh today – about 50 minutes from Melbourne – for some cherry picking at Paynes Orchard in the sunshine. Our reward: two sweet cherry tarts for dessert.

Winter is certainly here with chilly mornings making it hard to get out of bed. But yesterday we managed to brave the chill and take a short 45 minute drive from Melbourne to the pristine Sherbrooke Forrest. Situated within the Dandenong Ranges, the forrest was filled with crisp morning fog,
Last weekend we took a short break to the once famous gold rush town of Castlemaine, about an hours drive northwest of Melbourne. For accommodation, we opted to stay the night at the beautiful (yet a little haunting) art deco The Midland B&B.
Finally, it feels like summer has come to Melbourne this weekend and a delicious day trip to the Yarra Valley was on the top of our to-do list. Not only was the food delish, but the rolling green vineyards and blue sunny skies were something else. Here’s a short list of what we got up to:
